Growing up in Tanzania as the second youngest of six boys in a single-parent household, I was always seen as the head of my family. It was a lot of responsibility, but it shaped who I am today. Coming to the UK to study at UWE Bristol has been life-changing for me. For the first time, I feel genuinely supported—I have people who check in on me, and the University’s caring environment has made a huge difference. Through my studies in International Business, I’ve gained the skills and confidence to give back. I volunteer as a coach at Bristol Central Football Academy, helping young people develop both on and off the pitch. I also continue working with Street Child United, the charity that helped me get to the UK.
My dream has always been to make a difference. That’s why I founded a charity in Tanzania to support street-connected children, helping them fight discrimination and overcome barriers. I want to give young people in my country a chance to get off the streets and live the life they deserve. Being part of the #WeAreInternational: Transforming Lives campaign is an opportunity to share my journey and inspire others to make a difference, too.
